Mark Renton is a young heroin addict who is constantly trying to get straight. He meets his

futur girlfriend Diane, at a club. He spends the night with her at her house and then wakes up

to find out that Diane is a 16 year old school girl

...oops!

although he hasn't had sex in almost 6 weeks! When his girlfriend finally decides to

sleep with him, Spud passes out and wakes in the morning to find himself lying in

VERY messy sheets!

underage, she maintains a 'relationship' with Mark throughout the movie.

Diane's philosophy is, "The world is changing, music is changing, even drugs

Begbie loves people...loves to hurt people. He's always one to start a fight, and is known for his

extremly bad temper. He'd never do Heroin or "poison his body with that shite" but would

gladly accept a pint of ale and a pack of cigarettes anyday.

Sickboy is a heroin addict who recites trivia, and plays with air rifles. Him and Begbie become a

bit of a pain in the ass when they move in with Mark because they start taking over his whole

apartment and selling his things.
