All About Me

Hi. My name is Wendy, and I'm an alumni from Westlake High School. I'm finishing up my first full year at Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.

Here are some random thoughts:

Why is it so hard to find happiness? Just when you think life is looking a bit more sunny a dark storm cloud has to come and take it all away. Life can be so twisted and unfair sometimes that it's not right. We go through day by day, but for what purpose? We live to die, but what you make out of your life is up to you. You can choose to sit around saying that life sucks and do nothing to better it, or you can get up and see what life has waiting for you.

Why is it so hard to trust? It's hard to trust because once we open our hearts to someone they make such an impact on our life and it hurts so much when they hurt you. We can't trust because we don't want to be hurt. It's our own defense mechanism that we have built into our brain. Maybe one day we will be able to overcome this, and maybe that's what true friendship or true love is, being able to open yourself up to someone to an extent in which you are not afraid of being hurt.

No matter what happens always remember to be yourself because at the end of the day you're going to have to look in the mirror and see yourself for what you really are. You can lie to others, but never yourself.

Never be afraid to have fun and seize the moment for what it is worth.

Never give up on life. This seems like such an easy statement to accept but there are times in which we all just want to give up, but it's not that easy. Only the strong can make it through. Just realize that everything happens for a reason, and that in the end what goes around comes around.

Hobbies/Interests: I have a lot of hobbies. I love to read, write poetry, play pool, swim, go driving, and listen to music. Talking on the phone and spending time on the internet are things I do a lot of as well when I'm not at school or work. I love to party, and have fun hanging out with my friends. Although the best thing to do seems to be just relaxing :-)

School Activities: At WHS I was in marching band, symphonic band, Jazz Band II,in which I played the tenor sax for. I'm very musically oriented. I was also in the school's National Honor Society and Spanish Club, as well as being a peer tutor.

School Activities: Now I don't do anything for school besides go to class and then run off to work.

Music: I love a ton of differnet music. Some of my favorite groups are: 3 Doors Down,Chevelle, Creed,Dave Matthews Band, Default, Dido, Eminem,Good Charlotte, Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day,Hoobastank,Incubus, The Killers, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Matchbox 20, Nickleback,POD, Savage Garden, Tool, Train, Vertical Horizon, and many many more.

Why I Have Such A Wide Range of Likes: I'm a very complex person, so I like having music to fit my mood. When I'm upset or depressed I'll listen to Dido or other sadly mellow music. When I'm mad I often find myself listening to stuff a bit more angry like Eminem or Papa Roach. Music is just such a wonderful way to express yourself and relax.

The Worst Thing That Has Ever Happened to you: That would have to be when I got TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) from a staff infection. I was in the hospital for 9 days, and until the 6th day, they had no clue what was wrong with me. The doctors were looking at me as if I should be dead. It was the scariest thing that i ever went through. I was incredibly close to death. I had to withdrawl from the spring semester at school, which was very hard on me emotionally, because I was too weak to attend school. I also missed over a month of work, which of course, was unpaid. All of my skin shed, which was extremely painful, and I lost most of my hair, which was incredibly tramautic to me. I pray that no one ever has to go through TSS, but if they do, that the doctors catch it early on, and unlike me, be able to treat it before it starts affecting your internal organs.
