Beginner's Central

A solid introduction to the Web which provides good basic information
without burdening one with tons of details. It is organized like a book with
eight chapters that have a summary and quiz at the end of each chapter.
The designers used a "Courier New" font and basic black line graphics
which results in quick loading  pages. I wish someone had provided this
resource to me when I first started online.

The WWW Virtual Library

This is the oldest catalog of the web, started by Tim Berners-Lee, the
creator of the web itself. It is run by a loose confederation of volunteers,
who create pages of key links for particular areas in which they are expert.
The VL pages are widely recognized as being amongst the highest quality guides to particular sections of the web.

My Virtual Reference Desk

Lots of links to information for those just beginning their online journeys. Advanced topics such as JavaScript are also covered.

The Search Engine Tutorial for Web Designers

How to design your pages, keeping the search engines in mind. Knowledge of what a search engine is going to do with your page, while you are designing it, allows you to build a web page that will get the "hits" your hardwork deserves.

Yahoo!

The Portal King.  Besides being the first Internet directory, this site offers a mapping service, news headlines, and free E-mail to subscribers. My Yahoo! is the part of Yahoo! that lets you create a customized web site newspaper. You fill out a brief form that asks for your news preferences, and My Yahoo! delivers the information that meets your criteria. It even offers a customizable TV Guide. Personal preferences can be changed at any time.

Smart Computing

The Web site version of the publishers of PC Novice magazine. The people who provided the first guide I bought to learn how to use the Internet and build web sites.

Here is a "Bonus Link" to the PC Novice "Internet Basics Quick Answers" Vol. 6, Issue 10 (the latest version of our required books for CISB 102). You will have to registure with them to gain access to this site. (It's FREE).

Note: This site was created as an exercise for the LCC computer course CISB102 and is provided for educational purposes.
