This table lists armor in alphabetical order (for further details about any piece of armor, look below the table). Stats list the number of points improved by the armor and are figured from an unequipped character, so you won't see this much of an improvement if you already have decent armor equipped when you purchase or find a particular piece. Some armor makes no difference in some areas, or a negative difference.

An excellent purchase for Ronfar, as it's the first shield class equipment he can find in the game to equip (saucepan lid excluded, of course). Make it one of your first purchases.
Chain Mail

Another treasure you'll first stumble upon in the Illusion Woods, this is quite a find. It will significantly increase the amount of defense power the wearer possesses, at least at the point in the game where you initially find it.
Colorful Bandana

As you might expect, enemies do less damage to Ronfar when he wears this stylish bandana than when he wears the dull, single-color one that's probably already equipped. Not a bad purchas if you have the funds.
Cute Ribbon

This will give a good boost of protection against magic attacks for the girl that wears it.
Dew Ring

Dream Crest

The special thing about this crest is that it allows its wearer to put enemies to sleep. I recommend equipping it on Jean at the stage in the game in which you first find it, as she can attack first and put stronger enemies to sleep.
Earth Crest

When this item is equipped, attack will suffer a little. However, the wearer will be able to use powerful earth magic. This is even better when a complimentary crest or ring is equipped!
Flared Dress

There's not much to say about this except that it's a strong upgrade for Jean, and therefore a wise purchase.
Fur Dress

You can buy this now, and it's really good armor, but you should also keep in mind that you're fairly likely to find it as a reward for combat in the next area. The choice is yours. Whatever the case, you'll want this equipped on Jean going into the boss battle on Zulan Mountain.
Fur Robe

This is another item you can find in the dungeon where it will be most useful. However, it may take so long to win it in battle that you might want to just go ahead and buy it right away. The choice is yours. As you may have guessed, though, you'll want this going into the battle with Zulan Mountain's boss.
Gauss's Necklace

You can find this item in a treasure chest in Nota. It will recover 7 HP after each turn for whomever equips it. You have a choice to make.
Hairband

This is a great purchase for Jean if you can afford to buy any armor after purchasing weapons in Takkar Village, as this is the first headgear you'll find for Jean. It's not really strong stuff, but it's certainly better than what she previously had equipped in the headgear department: nothing!
Iron Armor

Don't buy this one! No, really. Don't buy it. It's expensive and it provides less protection than a free set of armor you'll find in the next area. Besides, there aren't any enemies to worry about before you find that better armor, so buying this is like wasting 1300s.
Iron Bracelet

The first time you see this item, it will be for sale in the Takkar Village armor shop. It's standard armor, an upgrade you'll probably want to make if you have the funds.
Iron Clogs

You should save these to equip on a character who doesn't need good range, such as Jean. They increase defense a lot and decrease range a fair bit, but they're still worth having. Definitely take the time to grab them from the bathhouse.
Iron Gauntlet

In Takkar Village, this cheap armor will work for Jean. It's only a great investment if you have lots of cash, as the hairband will provide her better protection for the same price (she won't have headgear at this point is the reason for that).
Iron Helm

This is a good bit of headgear for Hiro. He'll want all the protection he can get in the areas that lie just ahead of East Nota.

When you equip this, Hiro will no longer have to worry quite so much about physical attacks. The upgrade is considerable. This is your first truly decent shield.
Leather Armor

There's absolutely no reason not to purchase this armor. When you first find it, this armor is definitely a good investment, with no negative attributes and a significant leap in amount of protection.

When you find this, it's likely that everyone will take a hit in the wisdom department except Hiro, which of course means he's the one that should equip it. It will increase his range, which is obviously a good thing.

You'll not really notice an improvement in Hiro's defense when he equips this after wearing the Plate Armor, but you'll still want it in your inventory if you have money to burn.

Obviously a good purchase, as is any armor that increases your defense over what you may already have equipped. This more than doubles the defense offered by Hiro's previously equipped shield.
