Finally, in his fury, Voyse spun around and under both of the faceless’s punches, managed to dodge a first kick, but the second nailed him in the leg. This didn’t stop the assassin as he came up and gave a mighty slash across the faceless’s chest. The creature spun out of the attack in time to avoid a second hit. Its icy cold stare locked with Voyse’s insane grin, and for a moment the two just stood there. Devil Sin’s bloodlust urged Voyse to continue. Deep inside Voyse could feel the energy around him collecting towards the faceless, yet the sentient blade kept him going. The assassin dove at the creature, both blades leading. The creature took a step back, one fist clinched tight at its hip, the other held wide to the side. As Voyse neared closer with his attack, the creature sent its retracted fist forward in a mighty punch. A giant burst of neutral energy erupted from the faceless’s hand right at the assassin. Voyse managed to gain control of his body for a split second, and spun out of his attack. The quick move didn’t avoid the attack, but at least missed a fourth of it. Not only that, but as the blast knocked into Voyse’s back, he snapped Devil’s Sin behind him, slashing into the faceless’s chest once again and setting it off balance. The two went flying in opposite directions from the blast. Voyse was thrown through the air for a good 40 feet down the hallway before finally landing on the ground, where he skidded and rolled until slamming into the wall. Voyse coughed up a bit of blood and turned to his right to see the soldier who was slammed into the wall earlier. “So we fought that far back into the hallway…?” he whispered to himself. He looked on the ground to see Devil’s Sin. He quickly picked the blade up and sheathed it. He looked around for his new blade, which he found stuck into the wall. It only took him one arm to yank the blade free and slip it into his belt. Suddenly, he heard a soldier groan and slam into the floor. For the first time in what seemed an eternity for Voyse, he was afraid. His eyes widened in fear, and his head snapped in the direction of the noise, the hallway opposite of the one he was walking down earlier. There he saw a soldier lying on the ground. Slowly, he looked up to see the attacker. A young man with autumn colored eyes, battered armor, and two sabers stood staring in surprise at the assassin. “Who…” the man began to ask. Voyse sighed with relief and rubbed his hands across his face and into his hair. “What’s wrong with me..?” he asked himself quietly before leaping to his feet and dashing off back down the hallway where he fought the faceless. As he came near the spot where the now cut in half bloody mess of a body, he saw no creature. He sighed with relief again and turned down the hallway he and the faceless almost turned down earlier when he threw his dagger at it. ********** Thalys moved quickly through the many corridors of Tier Bastion. In no time he found soldiers guarding the entire place. Knowing well from his past experiences that he wasn’t as good as he once thought, Thalys moved around them quietly and headed down a separate hallway. He soon came across another hallway that led down to some stairs. He followed these stairs until he came across a hallway parallel to the one he had just been in. A hallway crossing perpendicular to the one he was in now was short, so he decided to take a peak inside. What he saw was hundreds of Bladenheart soldiers moving about. One in particular stuck out in the huge mob; a tall, slim man with short, spiky black hair and crystal blue eyes. On his belt were two large shuriken with the final stars replaced with handles. “He must be the leader of that bunch…probably really deadly too. I best move away from here quickly,” Thalys thought to himself, slowly backing away from the hallway and moving up the steps. Thalys continued down the hallway he was going down before he saw the steps. Suddenly, he heard a guard shout out for him to halt. He looked forward to see a rushing soldier with his sword drawn coming his way. Thalys dove forward, bringing both sabers to bear. He clashed open the man’s stomach and continued towards the other two soldiers heading his way. He clashed his right saber with the soldier’s bastard sword, bringing them both down in a parry. His left saber plunged into the soldier’s throat, and Thalys withdrew it quickly to block the final soldier’s powerful downswing. Thalys spun in a circle, both blades extended, but the soldier managed to block the attack with his sword. However, as the nobleman came around for a final strike, he came down on the soldier with both blades side-by-side. The soldier parried one, but the second cut through the soldier’s hand. The soldier dropped his sword in pain and started to back away. A quick double slash across the chest ending him. Thalys continued down the hallway for much time before he finally heard the steps of more soldiers. He came around a corner to see three heavily armored soldiers with lances and large shields stalking down the hallway. At first sight the men all fell into formation and charged at the intruder. Thalys side-stepped between the middle and left lancers and leaped onto the middle soldier’s shield. He planted his right foot on the soldier’s shield and then spun around, planting his left foot on the soldier’s shoulder and kicking forward with his right foot, nailing the soldier right in the back of the head. All three tripped and tumbled over each other, and Thalys fell to the ground into a roll. He leaped forward and stabbed his sabers into the necks of the two side soldiers and then crossed his blades to decapitate the middle one. Purely on instinct, Thalys spun around with his blades still crossed. Just in time, as a bastard sword clanged into his blades. He pushed upward on his sabers, all the while using his left foot to trip the attacking guard. The guard fell back and started to fall. Thalys helped him along by bringing his right blade down on his neck, slicing open his throat. Ahead of Thalys was three more guards. He dashed forward, stabbing both of his sabers into the armpits of the first soldier. He lifted the soldier up and tossed him into the second soldier. The second soldier shoved his companion off and brought up his shield to block Thalys’ double strikes. Thalys held his blades on the shield and grinned. Suddenly, the ground jutted up in a mass of spikes, knocking the soldier into the air. Thalys finished him off with four blades of water and advanced on the final soldier. Just then, he heard the sound of someone skidding into a nearby wall. Thalys dove low with his blades, but came up at the last instant, confusing the soldier. Two slashes across the chest sent him groaning to the ground in a crossing hallway. Thalys stepped into the hallway and saw where the sound he heard came from. |
