Thalys came upon the bloodied battlefield in a rocky path as he continued to tail the paladin from Rullenfay.  He couldn’t help but be impressed at the prowess of the group who did this.  What impressed him the most, however, were the two dead giants.
“They took out two giants…my goodness.” the nobleman gasped, nearly down near one to examine the wounds.  This particular giant had a massive tear across its groin and in the back of its neck.  If Thalys could have seen the underside of the giant, he would have also noticed the gruesome hack across the chest.
Slowly, he rose from the ground and took another look of the battlefield.  “Note to self…don’t get on their bad side.” Thalys said with a chuckle and turned to walk away.
Further down the trail he came across a giant rock with words “Tier Bastion” written on the stone.
“Tier Bastion?  What could that mean?  Wait a minute…I’ve heard bedtime stories of that place!  I bet that paladin wants me to go there…but why?”  Thalys mumbled to himself, rubbing his chin.  “Why not, I guess?  Not like I really know where I’m going now.  Might as well have a destination.  Thank you, Paladin of Kaith.” He smiled and continued walking.  “Now, if I were a giant castle that fell from the sky…where would I land?  Somewhere below Cloud City, obviously!  Time to head for Sol City, I guess.”
With a newfound destination, Thalys increased his pace, determined to keep up with the traveling group ahead.  Something caught his attention from the corner of his eye, however, and he turned to get a better look.  All he saw was a large rock that went over a ridge.  He walked onto the rock and peered over to find a long-abandoned fortress, not so abandoned anymore.
“Now, what could they be doing there?” He thought to himself.
Suddenly, he felt a large explosion of pain in the back of his head, and he tumbled to the ground, seeing nothing but darkness.

                                                             **********

Thalys awoke to find himself bound by chains in a beat down dungeon cell.  A dim light coming from a barred window on a wooden door is all he could make out in the dark room.
“Now…this is never good.” He said to himself quietly, struggling to free himself from the chains.  He heard what sounded like two men mumbling to themselves outside of the door.  Probably guards, he thought.  They will soon learn not to capture an omni adept and hope to keep him.
Slowly but surely, he began to melt away the chains around his wrists, taking care not to burn himself.  In no time his wrists were free, and he started work on his ankles.  Once he was completely free of the bindings, he hid in the shadows and thought.  He would escape from here soon enough, but the timing would have to be perfect.
