All 5 of these points are based as you will see, on basic ethics and plain old commom sence. Something we all have but dont always use. Point One Wiccan Rede The Wiccan Rede is the base belief of the Wiccan Religion. Basicily is nothing more then plain old common sence. Something all of us have but dont always practice. The most used phase of the Rede is , "An it harm none, do as ye will." The Rede states, " If an action will cause harm, physically, emotionally, or mentally, to another person or one's self, refrain from doing it. Strive to always be helpful and never willingly cause strife or harm to befall someone. Weigh your actions against each other, would you wish your actions taken against you? Take no action you would not wish to recieve." Point Two The Law Of Return This is also called the Karmic Law, the Law Of Ten or the Law of Three. This is translanted as simply, (what happends to you is an effect of what you do). If you are a good person at heart and do good things for others then good things will return to you. If you have a evil heart and have ill will toward others then that will return to you as well. Just some more basic common sence. In the Wiccan practice, the doing of good or evil is said to come to you in "threefold" , given the Law of Three, in some Wiccan traditions, and in other traditions it is said to come back to you in "tenfold", given the Law of Ten. Eaither way it comes down to the old saying, "what comes around, goes around." Point Three Ethic of Self Responsibility Some more common sence for you all. Basically, if you mess up or if bad things are happening to you it's notbodys fault but your own. That nobody is resoinible for your actions but you. Dont do anything that you are not willing to own up and take responibility for. We all are in control of our own actions so therefor must take responsibility for those actions. Much too often we all find our selfs in sistuations were it seems much easier to blame someone or someting elce instead of admiiting to our selfs and others that we are then only ones to blame. We are in control of our own destinys and if you want good in your life then do good and take the resposibility for what you do be it good or bad. We all make mistakes, if we did not we would not be human, but live up to what you have done and we will all be better people for it. Point Four Ethic of Contant Improvement The base of this ethic is pretty much covered by the Ethic of Self Responsibility but it goes much further then that. It's learing and teaching tolerance. To help others learn tolerance, racial harony, excepting the differences of others as well as a respect for nature. Too many people treat ohters badly because of their differences, bacause of someones race, creed, orgian, religion, handycap, sex, age and for any other resason they can come up with that makes others differ from themselfs. The Wiccan religion teaches that there is not just one right way. There is room for differences and these differences are respected and honered. It also teaches that nature is divine, that it suld be respected and that it is the basis of all life, to respect nature is to respect yourself and all life. Point Five Ethic of Attunement Attunement or, becomming in-tune with divinity is what is the basis of Wiccan ritual. There are three basic divisitons of divinity in Wicca. First- Ones self is divine. Second- The Gods or the powers that suround us are divine. Third- The Universe is divine. The first division of divinity, (Ones self is divine), is a reference to the ethic of self responsibility. The owner of the body is responible for the actions of the body. To be in-tune with yourself, and your body to do what makes you feel "in-tune" or in touch with yourself. The second division of divinity, (The Gods or the powers that suround us are divine). In Wicca there is a Divine Father and a Great Mother and they are mainly figures of celebration, such as the worship of the harvest cycles and of the lunar cycles. The third division of divinity, (The Universe is divine), is based on the belief that the Earth is a living thing and every living thing on it is a part of it. This being every person, animal, plant, tree or mineral is a part of a greater living thing which is the Earth it's self. They believe that each living thing on the earth has a spirit, and not just people and animals but things such as the wind, rain and even a rock or a blade of grass has its own spirit. All these spirits together with the earth move in cycles with in the Univerce. |
