This is the first picture I created of Sarah and Severus from "A Merciless Affection."
When my 10-year-old son saw it, he said, "She must be in detention."
Detention
The original of this picture is a Victorian engraving I own
by someone named Witthoff of a painting by someone named Amberg.
(I haven't a clue who either of them is; if anyone does, I'd love to know.)
It's called "La Musique Consolatrice," and I've only used a detail of it.
I used Corel Photo-Paint to change both of their hair,
made minor modifications to the shape of the girl's face so that she looks more like my mental image of Sarah,
fixed the shape of Snape's nose,
Hogwartized Sarah's clothes a bit, and gave her a jaunty little witch's
hat.
The original expressions and demeanor of the painting's subjects, however,
seemed to suit these two very well.
I'm moderately pleased with the results, although
getting hair textures just right is a pain in the butt.
Anyway, hope you enjoy!
