Chrome Engine Hanger Cover Modification

This avoids the hassle of removal/installation of the left side chrome engine hanger cover when removing the petcock for tank removal.

Purchased at Tacoma Screw (Seattle area fastener store):
  • 03ea. 6mm x 37.5mm metric studs ($5.54)
  • 03ea. M6 nuts ($.27)
  • 03ea. M6 acorn nuts ($1.71)

Pop off the three chrome bolts holding the left side cover on. Have a magnet handy to catch the spacers when they fall out. With the cover removed, use the magnet to hold the spacer in place (behind the engine hanger) while inserting the stud through its hole and spacer. The "short thread end" is then threaded into its corresponding part behind the engine hanger. Once all three studs are installed/snugged, thread the nuts onto each of them.

Put the chrome cover on and install the acorn nuts and you're done!!
Now, it's a snap to do your maint. chores!!
