Removing tank badges

While not exactly a mod...
An easy method to remove the emblems from the fuel tank.

Cut a piece of monofilament fishing line ( I used 60 lb test).
Fit it behind the emblem on the tank (you may need to pry the front or rear
end up a bit with a finger nail).
Use a slow sawing motion and pull the line thru the adhesive that holds the
emblem to the tank. Keep the line matching the contour of the tank.

The narrower ends come off easily, but the center is thicker and better
'adhesed' to the tank, so go slow.
Once the emblem is 'sawed' off the tank, you'll likely have a good bit of
'goober' left. Use some sticker remover. (I used a product I got at K-Mart,
called "Goo-Gone". Use shop rags to cover the chrome carb. caps, and valve
covers.
Another EXTREMELY helpful tool is a 3" wide PLASTIC spackleknife. I used it
to sort of 'scratch' (this tool should be non-abrasive, DUH !) the
remaining 'goober' off the tank.
Once the goober is removed, I used a good spray detailer to clean up the
tank, then waxed.
