Joe lives in Alburg, Vermont. He is 19. He is a member of the National Honor Society, and is presently a sophmore at the University of Vermont.

Joe started dancing at age 9. He began participating in competitions within a few months and has been competing ever since. Several years ago, Joe paired up with Meg Pedrick as a DanceSport partnership. Joe also loves other kinds of sports. In addition to DanceSport, he usually plays basketball in the winter and runs track and field in the spring.

Joe has many other interests as well. He is an Eagle Scout, and during the summer, he works at Mount Norris Scout Reservation in Eden, Vermont. He loves music and has studied piano and sung in several choirs.

In high school years ago, Joe participated in the People to People Student Ambassador Program, which took him to England, France, Germany, Denmark, and Sweden. In 1997, he was a Legislative Page at the State Capitol in Montpelier.

Joe enjoys the social environment at competitions, but says that the actual competition is his favorite part. "I really enjoy the feeling I get when I know I have done it well," he says.
