Meg lives in Northfield, Vermont. She has been dancing since she was 6 - first in ballet and jazz, and later as a social dancer with the Green Mountain Chapter of the US Amateur Ballroom Dance Association. Several years ago, she began competing in a partnership with Joe Larose.
Meg is currently 17 and a junior at Northfield High School. She is a top student, consistently placing on the High Honors list. She has received a President's Achievement Award for Academic Excellence (presented by the White House annually to outstanding students), along with a letter of congratulation from President Clinton. In 9th grade, she received a gold medal for achieving a summa cum laude ranking in the national Latin examination.
Meg says that she loves dancing, and enjoys competing because it gives her goals to strive for, along with great satisfaction in progressing toward those goals. She enjoys the friendly atmosphere at competitions, and making friends with the other competitors. She says that it is fun to cheer each other on, watching everyone improve and move up in the rankings from year to year. Her favorite part of competing, however, is actually being out on the dance floor. "You get a bit nervous," she says, "getting ready to go out… getting dressed and warmed up. But then once you're out on the floor, all that fades away, and you just dance and have fun."
