Make it 'til Monday
Gravity Grave
Verve had to play Glastonbury with hired equipment after thieves stole four guitars ( a Fender Jazz bass, a Gibson Thunderbird bass, a Fender Jazzmaster guitar and a Fender Stratocaster) from their van parked in Clapham on the 16th. The band still delivered a splendid afternoon performance, the highlights being a majestic 'Make It 'Til Monday' and a thunderous 'Gravity Grave' which closed the show. The crowd were left clamouring for more but had to make do with Jamiroquai.
" Verve frighten me. They're so fuckin
good. 'Blue' is a pure wall of brilliance. They ooze cool. Richard is (yet
another) Jagger without the speed. Bouncing is replaced by swaying, but
it all adds up to the same result: we are all happy, happy people." - ZINE
This radio recording was taped off of
Radio 1 FM. This show is very intense.
The guitars are extremely loud and
the performance sounds amazing. The
version of "Gravity Grave" is the same
one as on the Verve's No Come Down
release. The version of "Make
it 'til Monday" is the same as the promotional
flexidisc released on June 1, 1993.
This just goes to show how amazing this
show must have been both for the Verve
and their viewers.
