The Band Members

 

 

  • From Wigan in Lancashire, formed in 1990 

  • Original line-up: Richard Ashcroft, Nick McCabe, Simon Jones, and Peter Salisbury 

  • At the tail-end of 1995, Simon Tong, an old school friend joined the band to play guitar and keyboards

  • Richard, Simon and Pete knew each other from Upholland High School and recruited Nick from Winstanley College, both in Wigan, England

 

 

 

Richard Ashcroft

  • Lead vocal, acoustic guitar
  • Original member
  • Born 11 September 1971 in Wigan, England
  • Graduate from Winstanley College, Wigan
  • Left The Verve in 1999 to pursue a solo career (3 albums) with Peter Salisbury on drums
  • Returned to The Verve in 2007
  • Married to Kate Radley-Ashcroft
  • Father of two boys: Sonny and Cassius

Nick McCabe

  • Lead Guitars
  • Original member
  • Graduate from Winstanley College, Wigan
  • Born 14 July 1971 in  St. Helens, England
  • Left The Verve in 1998, returned 2007
  • Married with a daughter, Eleanor

Simon Jones

  • Bass Guitar
  • Original member
  • Born 29 May 1972 in Wigan, England
  • Left The Verve in 1999, returned in 2007
  • Was in the band Shining with fellow Verve member, Simon Tong

 

 

 

 

Peter Salisbury

  • Percussion
  • Original member
  • Nicknamed "Sobbo"
  • Born 24 September 1971 in Wigan, England
  • Left The Verve in 1999 and continued with Richard Ashcroft
  • Returned to The Verve in 2007
  • Has featured on both of Richard Ashcroft's solo albums Alone With Everybody (2000), Human Conditions (2002), and Keys to the World (2006)
  

 

Simon Tong

  • Guitars, Keyboards
  • Born in 1975
  • Joined The Verve in late 1995
  • Left The Verve in 1999
  • Was in the band Shining with fellow Verve member, Simon Jones
  • Has provided guitar work for the Gorillaz
