A SOLDIER THAT SOMEONE SURELY
KNEW
by
Sandy Lamere Solari
There will be no parade for me,
No waving of the red, white and blue.
No tears flowing upon the open sea,
I'm a GI no one even knew.

A reported MIA they day,
A forgotten soul am I.
"Oh God, to you I pray,
It's not how I want to die."

I will not let time forget,
That I did once exist,
I have paid our nation's debt,
I'm the soldier someone should have missed.

I want my nation all around,
To know that I'm still here.
I want myself homeward bound,
And to dry our nation's tear.

So I'll sit back and wait,
To come home and be with you.
But nation....you're already late.
Signed....
A GI that someone...somewhere....surely knew.
