| YOUNG AMERICAN CREATIVE PATRIOTIC ARTS CONTEST This contest is open to all students in grades 9-12. Students must attend school in the same state as the sponsoring Ladies Auxiliary. ENTRY DEADLINE: MARCH 31, 2009 HOW TO ENTER Student can enter by submitting the required entry from, along with their art work to Ladies Auxiliary Post 969 by March 31, 2007 PATRIOTIC ART ENTRY FORM (This is a .PDF file) MEDIA ACCEPTED INCLUDES DIGITAL ART, RULES DEFINED The Ladies Auxiliary has expanded acceptance of media to include digital art. Contest Rules Clarification for Digital Art: Digital art is defined as any and all art that is produced or enhanced using a computer. Examples of digital art include but are not limited to: digital compositing, digital painting and digital 3D modeling. Examples of digital tools and programs for digital painting and compositing include Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Corel Printer. Note that the majority of the composition must be created by the artist. A photograph does not qualify as eligible work in either digital art or the traditional media catrgories of the Patriotic Art Contest. Submit a high-resolution (300dpi) high-quaility print matted in white. All sizes and matting rules apply. On the entry form, be sure to designate the work as "digital art" in the "Media Used in Entry" blank, as well as what software (and other applicable media) was used to create the work. |

| THE LADIES AUXILIARY GOALS: 1. To actively encourage 9th-12th grader students to creatively express their patriotism through speech and art. 2. To seek more participation in the Creative Art and Voice of Democracy Programs by getting them introduced in the schools and to home-schooled students. 3. To increase conributions to the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Escrow Fund so it can become self-sustaining, thus providing more scholarships. 4. To promote and support the Voice of Democracy Audio/Essay Contest with financial assistance on the Local, District, Department and National levels. |

| YOUTH ESSAY PROGRAM FOR GRADES 3-5 2008-2009 THEME: "MY THANKS TO AMERICA'S ARMED FORCES" ENTRY DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 1, 2008 HOW TO ENTER Students can entry by submitting the required entry form, along with the essay to the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 969 by November 1, 2008 We had 26 entries for 2006-2007 ("WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CITIZEN IN MY COMMUNITY") from Concordia Lutheran.
