VG Gnarly Powers

First, let me state that I share very few of the characteristics I am going to describe here. Also, although we are entering a topic that many would consider non-scientific, I have first-hand experience of unusual phenomena. What I have witnessed can’t be explained by anything I learned in Chemistry (undergraduate major), Physics (undergraduate minor) or Math (graduate major). To give the proper context, I must point out that science has an incredibly high burden for what is considered proof: reproducibility upon demand. Regardless, I am a major skeptic. As a small example, upon observing either Venus or Jupiter in the night sky, I don’t proclaim that we are being invaded by aliens.

Let me make clear the difference between what I call intuition, and precognition; I possess the former, but not the latter. My AH intuition comes from the fact that I miss much of environmental details that VGs don't seem to miss. I am forced to “fill in the details” using my own experience and, because of my intelligence, I have a higher rate of accuracy than another AH who is not as intelligent.

The intuition/precognition that VGs experience is quite different; they actually get impressions from objects, people, and places due to their extreme awareness of their environment (an adaptive trait?) and super-perceptive abilities.

The following are excerpts from Hallowell and Ratey’s landmark book on ADD titled Answers To Distraction; I claim this is evidence that both men are AHs:

“For an ADDer it isn’t a matter of choosing to get better at intuition, it’s a matter of needing to get better in order to get by. Due to such ADD symptoms as distractibility, inattention to details, and the compulsion to move onward, ADDers must depend on intuition to fill in the blanks in their observation... Using intuition means constructing perceptions, or reaching conclusions or decisions, without relying solely upon objective information or rationality... The typical ADDer perceives only a small percentage of relevant sensory information. The rapid-transit ADD brain puts the ADDer three steps ahead of the moment and prevents the accurate perception of information.”

In contrast, VG awareness transcends ordinary notions concerning the very nature of time itself. I’m not talking about the common ADDer experience of time distortion here; time seemingly speeding up or slowing down, especially while on task. What I’m talking about in this discussion of “Gnarly Powers” is that VGs see time as non-linear. They have premonitions of the future, and also of past events to which they could not have bore witness.

Some VGs I know seem to be able to detect my presence. They’d know when I was physically nearby without actually seeing/hearing me. Some have told me that I have a very strong presence, almost overpowering (and I bathe daily, so it’s not that). It’s not just the ability to detect the presence of certain mighty AHs; select VGs seem to be able to communicate feelings over hundreds of miles, even if they have never met. One VG was especially sensitive - I bore witness to his ability to actually change the temperature of the air surrounding his hand by as much 40 degrees Fahrenheit! This VG claimed to be able to physically move objects, which I never observed.

Does this clairvoyance serve extremely useful purposes, such as providing winning Lottery numbers? Not that I know of, but VGs do seem to have better luck. They don't necessarily receive premonitions of actual numbers, but rather, they receive a vision of themselves winning. This causes them to play their lucky numbers more often than usual, and thereby win more often than what can be attributed to random chance; I've seen this happen several times with several different VGs. Sometimes their feeling is very strong; in these cases, winning is a near certainty. At a casino, a sensitive VG can get an impression from a slot or video poker machine; they see themselves winning at the machine. While it's true that eventually every machine will hit, winning seems to come more often to the sensitive VG than to others (provided they know when to quit!)

Apparently, AHs are not as likely to see ghosts. AHs are much more self-aware so they are not in tune with their ability to perceive subtle things. Personally, I’ve been in a room with a sensitive VG when there was a ghost in the room which they could see, but I couldn't. Since then, I did have an experience (about a year and a half ago) with what I took to be a ghost. This occurred after I was diagnosed and started using Adderall. The medication helped me gain control of my “blindspot”; that is, allowed me to become much less aware of my own point of view exclusively. I didn’t really see a ghost in the traditional sense, but, rather, an unexplainable shadow. However, recently, I experienced a much more unusual event.

Do you remember the cheesy 1973 TV-movie called “ Don't Be Afraid of the Dark”? (Plot synopsis from The All Movie Guide.) Seems there are some VGs that believe they see the small non-benevolent creatures depicted in this movie. They have been described as a foot or two high, and very elusive. The 4 VGs that told me this did not know each other, and the creatures they described were disturbingly similar. This might explain the relatively common reports of people experiencing the so-called CE4K phenomenon - alien abduction.

And what happens if a certain AH walks around looking for the little fellas? Near the end of 2002 while still in California, I heard a strange noise in the kitchen; one that I had never heard before. I looked into the kitchen, and saw nothing, but I realized one of the little guys might just be hiding behind the stove. So I crept over and just when I reached the point where I could see over the stove and saw that nothing was hiding there, I stepped on a tile which I hadn’t realized was loose. It made an unusual but precise sound which I had heard only once before in that place - the original sound which drew my attention about 10 seconds before. I conjecture that the weight of a small critter wouldn’t have been enough to make that tile creak in that way. Or did I actually experience an “echo in time”; that is, did I hear the sound I made before I physically made it? Nonetheless, that event definitely made me say, “Hmmm...”
