Astaroth
Discipline: Gyulkus
Weapon: Giant Axe (Kulutues)
A Grand Priest by the name of Kunpaetku followed the
word of Ares. He used the Black Arts to create a Golem, which he named
Astaroth, who was sent to find Soul Edge. Astaroth found the blade after
its defeat to the Soul Calibur, while it was in a weakened state. Astaroth
believed that his god would not be pleased with the blade's current
condition, so he followed the orders of Nightmare. These orders were
to slaughter many people, and collect the souls within the blade to
return its strength. Three years passed, and the blade had finally regained
its strength. Astaroth now readied himself, knowing he would soon have
to take Soul Edge from Nightmare. Astaroth was defeated by another warrior
before he could accomplish this. Four years later, Astaroth was resurrected,
and his body absorbed pieces of Soul Edge, making him even stronger.
Now he hunts for the blade, so that he may return it to his god once
more.
It's obvious that Astaroth's strength lies in his immense
power. A well landed blow can floor an enemy, and leave them open for
another attack. Powerful strikes can be linked together, and only build
in strength from one to the next. He has a few quick attacks, and if
they're used correctly, he can move directly into another move, and
smash an opponent into the ground.
Astaroth's moves are probably the easiest in the game
to read, and therefore, block. He's probably the slowest character in
the game, leaving him at a loss when fighting the faster characters
like Taki and Talim. His lack of combos leave him at another disadvantage
to other characters. His size also makes it easy for characters to land
attacks, and harder for him to dodge them. Astaroth definitely takes
a bit of practice.
Astaroth‘s Score: 7/10
