Cervantes is a man condemned by hellfire, literally. He killed all of his crew when he retrieved the Soul Edge and devoured the souls of any men who challenged him, except for one - A holy warrior sent by god himself destroyed one of the blades and Cervantes’ human form was no more, but his devilish pirate soul lived on. He was resurrected with the memory of the sword that remained only to discover it to had been destroyed. He collected the fragments and gained power. Again, he began taking souls of warriors and those who crossed his path and continued in his search for the rest of Soul Edge.

Cervantes is a changed fighter. Many of his old strengths were just plain cheap combos and insanely powerful maneuvers. Don’t fret though, as an added quickness and deeper fighter are now there to take advantage of. While he may not seem too quick to the average Joe, someone with a strong nerve that spends time with his move list will look like a madman on the battleground. His ability to destroy someone with horizontals keeps sidesteppers cautious. Keep in mind that a single mistake can be the demise of a Cervantes opponent. His blazing kicks can stop any combo dead in it’s steps, and taking too much caution will allow for his surprising range to come in to affect. The pirate’s hefty list of intimidating horizontals and combos allows him to move in on scared players. If he gets close he can execute one of his devastating throws. Not a good thing for an opponent.

His tried and true maneuvers can be learned and evaded fairly easily so it’s key for a Cervantes fighter to know how to mix up his game. Knowing the move list and coming in with a strategy is key. Someone that loses their train of thought and forgets how capable his range is during a fight will undoubtedly lose.
