As a member of the royal guard, Xianghua came across Soul Edge while on a mission for the Emperor. After learning of the swords true nature, she destroyed it and told the Emperor they could not find it. After learning the truth, the Emperor relieved Xianghua of her rank and she was reassigned. The Emperor successfully took the castle Soul Edge was rumored to be residing in, only to find the sword was not there. Following rumors that pieces of Soul Edge still remained, she left on a journey to rid the world of the evil sword forever.

Though she looks harmless from a distance, Xianghua is a force to be reckoned with once you get within reach of her sword. Small and fast, she can easily slip around an enemy and knock them off their feet, which is why she has become a favorite at many Soul Calibur 2 tournaments. Get an enemy in the air and she has got plenty of moves to keep them there. Her combos link together, making her deadly blows look like an elegant art. With Xianghua it is easy to sidestep a slower enemy and catch them off guard. She is hard to master, but once you do, you can be unstoppable.

Her downside would have to be her size and weapon. Since Xianghua is small, she is easy to hit with medium and low blows, lowering your amount of potential moves considerably. She can also be knocked out of the ring much easier, so you need to keep her constantly moving. Her sword does not do great damage, but it does allow easy access to an enemy. Also because of her size, many of the weapons unlockable to her are heavy and will leave her unbalanced in battle.
