Soul Calbur 2 Characters
[Gamecube, PS2, Xbox]

Heishiro Mitsurugi
Discipline: Tenpu-Kosai-Ryu Kai
Weapon: Katana (Shishi-Oh)

Mitsurugi was born into a peasant family however this did not stop him from becoming a respected and well known mercenary. He was so admired that he was given nicknames like "One Man Army". One day Mitsurugi heard a story about a massive blade known as the Soul Edge. Mitsurugi was so intrigued that he crossed the ocean in search for this legendary sword. During his journey he heard talk that the wielder of the Soul Edge, who was called Nightmare, had disappeared. Mitsurugi did not give up his journey, however, for he still had hope. Four years after he first started on his journey Mitsurugi happened upon the trail of the Soul Edge. A mysterious stranger handed him a piece of the Soul Edge and, though he had doubts, he decided to trust the man. Soon after, an incident happened when a servant of the Ming Emperor entered the castle and demanded for a sword that he called the "Sword of Heroes". When the servant refused to leave without this sword the lord of the castle killed him. Soon after this, Mitsurugi sensed the storm of battle stewing.

Mitsurugi is both a powerhouse who can easily demolish an opponent. Though his strength is lower than characters like Necrid he can still do a hefty amount of damage. Not only is Mitsurugi powerful but he is also fast, making him a very valuable character. Mitsurugi is able to link together many attacks, creating lots of different combo attacks. An important factor in fighting with Mitsurugi is his different stances, each with different combos and strikes. Learning how to link the stances together and how to use them is the key to mastering Mitsurugi’s style. Because when these stances are mastered Mitsurugi becomes a force to be reckoned with.

Mitsurugi’s attacks, though fast and powerful, are easy to read and, therefore, block. Even worse is that some attacks leave Mitsurugi open to attack, making it easy for an opponent to lower his health. When getting into a stance Mitsurugi is especially easy to hit, so the player must do it when there is an opening or be ready to be hit. At a distance Mitsurugi can be demolished due to the average length of his blade so being close to the enemy is vital.

Mitsurugi‘s Score: 9/10
