Yoshimitsu
Discipline: Manji Ninjitsu
Weapon: Katana (Yoshimitsu)
Story: After the destruction of his clan, he set off
to avenge the death of his comrades. After failing, and in the process
losing his right arm, he decided on finding Soul Edge. Unfortunately,
he was too late, and the sword had already been destroyed. His katana
is later stolen and retrieved, along with a fragment of Soul Edge, which
rekindles his search for the ultimate sword.
Character Model: Colorful? Yes. Detailed? Mostly. Perfect?
Not quite. His fake hand could have used a little more effort, as it
looks a little too fat and not fitting of the character, who seems to
dig the skinny look.
Fighting: Uses a similar style to Mitsirugi, and suffers
from the same "hit A and Y and you’ll be fine" problem
that most of the characters in this game suffer from. But he looks cool
doing it, so I guess he’s an adequate choice for a fighter.
Weapons: The variety leaves a lot to be desired. Did
I say a lot? Oh, yes I did. It bears repeating, as Yoshimitsu’s
library of weapons consists of the same sword that might be curved or
with a different handle when you shift between them. Honestly, once
you get his version of the Soul Calibur, you’ll forget any of
his other blades were even there, as they mostly play the same. Yoshimitsu
is fun, but doesn’t have much depth to him, especially considering
he’s got a good enough look about him where you could have bought
a long-winded tale of his exploits as a younger man. 7/10.
Yoshimitsu’s Score: 7/10
