Review:

The N64 was labelled the first 64-bit console. Nintendo continued with the cartridge media from the SNES to run games with. Whereas their main competitors used a CD-based media. The release date was delayed, and really it was maybe a little too late to compete with the likes of the PlayStation.

A good advantage that the N64 had over the PlayStation was its 'family' orientated games to get everyone involved, where the PlayStation had a select audience. The popular games made for the N64 were Golden Eye, which was a good idea to release in line with the film, and the standard Super Mario title.

The system had real-time rendering and anti-aliased graphics, to add to the 32-bit graphics. The controller was ergonomically designed to suit the user with an analogue control stick and no less than 14 buttons!

This was the best console for its time, but the introduction of the more advanced consoles such as the PS2, Xbox and GameCube have overtaken popularity. The N64 is not dead yet though with people still interested due to the high price of the more recent consoles.

Conclusion
On paper it looked brilliant but didn't have enough good games to support it.
