The photo incorrectly labeled as "Jeremiah and Annie Hilyard" has been positively identified. Click on the photo to see a larger version.

Nancy Spallinger writes: "It is Jeremiah Hilyard, but with Lydia Shobe. Jeremiah's father was David Hilyard. David's parents were of course Jeremiah Hilyard and Annie Valentine. This information came from Linda Walls Settlage. She obtained the info from Bea Cottrell Jacoby; Bea's mother was Bessie Hilyard Cottrell. Bessie's mother was Jeremiah and Lydia Shobe Hilyard.
So...mystery solved.  Picture had the fellas name right, but the wrong generation of Jeremiah Hilyard."  So, the lady who identified these people was their granddaughter.

My two cents' worth: I have this Jeremiah born 1872, died 1948. Lydia (and I have her name as "Shope") was born 1879, died 1945.  My records show seven children from this marriage.
