The official release date for the non-preview, Transformers movie toys is June 2nd. However, some of the stores where I live put out some of the toys prematurely. Thank you Fred Meyer and Target. Amongst the few toys I've purchased lately have been Autobot Jazz from the deluxe assortment. I fully intended to write a review. I took pictures, made a web page for it, and everything. I just couldn't get into writing a formal review though. So, take a gander at the pics I took here and below are some thoughts in no particular order.
I like his vehicle mode. It rolls well and there is some interior detail, but not much. He's a toy, so it' snot like I expect bucket seats, adjustable steering wheel, gear shifts, and what not. While the pictures may show the rook a different color than the rest of the car, they actually do match. Stupid flash.
Transformation is not complicated, though the arms can be a little tricky as it's an innovative use of the hood folding around itself to form the forearms.
His robot mode is nicely detailed and sports decent articulation. You have to open the arms for him to hold his weapon in-hand. The back of the car forms a shield that can clasp on either arm and, though not documented in the instructions, his weapon attaches to the shield. I prefer this configuration. Jazz is a little lacking in the torso department and his legs are big and beefy, but I've gotten used to it.
So in conclusion, Jazz is a good, solid, stylin' toy. You should buy him.
