So I was lamenting to my good pal Zobovor that I never once saw the Wal-Mart exclusive Alternators, Ravage and Rumble, at retail and that of the two I wanted Rumble. As it turns out, the Wal-Mart he works at had both in spades and out of the kindness of his heart, he sent me a Rumble. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "Whattapal!!!" Thanks, Zob!
Rumble is what the other Alternators should aspire to be. In that I mean his transform. There's a reason I don't have many Alternators any more, they aren't fun to play with. Yes, I know they are aimed more at adult collectors, but they lacked, in my opinion, the thing that makes Transformers what they are (outside of being robots that transform into cars and things). They lacked the fun.
Rumble brings back the fun.
He's a highly detailed Honda Civic Si with a detailed interior. Which, as I've stated before, isn't something I'm looking for in a Transformer toy - use your imagination. His transform is easy for an Alternators toy (which earns him a LOT of points in my book) with hardly anything that can go wrong. Well, I'm afraid the rear-view mirrors will break off by using them to open the doors, like what happened to my Prowl (who has found his home elsewhere now). His robot mode is a wonderful homage to the original Rumble, only with car parts hanging off of him now.
Best part? The pile drivers. Man, those things are neat-o. Shame he doesn't have hands, but Rumble don't need no stinking hands. He's not exactly a typist, you know. I also love the weapons on his back. I can picture him kneeling, pounding the ground and blasting away anyone getting to close to him on the battlefield.
I'd love a Frenzy recolor/retool. I don't think that will happen though.
