Chris and Shelly met at Grandma's Sports Garden after a hockey game and began dating for many months. However, due to the long distance between the two they decided to take a rest from seeing each other.
Their paths met again when Shelly moved to the Brooklyn Park after college to become a teacher. Still, with a smaller distance, the two knew they were destined to be together forever.....
The proposal: Februrary 2, 2002. Chris and Shelly planned a return to their original meeting grounds of Duluth. Even with the chilly breeze of February, the two set out for a drive up the North Shore, eventually stopping at the frozen waterfall of Gooseberry Falls.
Chris got down on one knee and asked Shelly to be his wife. A response of "YES!" was all it took; and the rest was history!
