Melodies from a swallow Taken from Album's review - Hoa Hoc Tro April 6th, 2000 ( Author: Thuy Ngan - Posted by Amy Thai from Vietnam) Needless to say, I think when you read this tittle, you can guess who I am going to talk about...yeah, no swallow that is favourite than Vicki Zhao Wei with her role Xiao Yan Zi in Huan Zhu Ge Ge, which is the most popular actress here in Vietnam with a great support from all the pupils and students over this country. We are all both paying much attention to the serie which is being showed in TV now, and also to her first debut album "Swallow". Not only the character of Xiao Yan Zi, spectators also like listening to the three main soundtracks from the serie HZGG that Vicki performed, which are: "There is a girl", 'Can not leave you' and 'Since I have you'. At first Vicki only thought that she would join in the music circle, but didn't decide to do that, until Alec Su You Peng found out about that, and he supported her warmly. That's when the HZGG crew team came to Taiwan to promote their serie, Alec had several times invited Vicki and Ruby and others go for karaoke, and he discovered that Vicki has such a great voice, as well as those singers from Taiwan or Hongkong. Since then, Alec became Vicki's teacher in basic singing, she was taught how to drew her breath, how to maintain her voice, and what's the difference from singing live in stage and singing in the audio room...And together with the release of HZGG Part 2, 'Swallow' appeared as to draw attention of TV spectators to the role of Xiao Yan Zi, and also as for Vicki furfiled her wish in singing. Out of above 3 songs in this album, the rest 7 songs are also worth to listen to, coz it's not only for the fascinating melodies but also for Vicki's impressive and pure voice. It seems that if she wants to move to the music field, there will be no difficulty. If you like spirited and excited rhythm, you would choose 'Sha la la', or 'Saturday night', and for those who prefer gentle ballads, songs like "Letter from the sea' or 'Story in the rain' will satisfy you. As for the video clips, I think it's a good example for Vietnamese director to take notice of. Most of the clips are filmed simply, but with a high effect coz the scenes are very suitable with the songs. For instance, those dance rhythm are recorded with colorful and active-movement images, while ballads are made with deep, dark coloured slow-moving scenes. In short, even though you're not a fan of Vicki but you like HZGG, you should have this CD in your collection. Or at least you should borrow it from your friends to listen to one time. That's why, not only HZGG, but also this album has made a great shock to Asian audience as well as Vietnam. These days, if you just drop by any CD shop nearby, you will see that 'Swallow' is one of the most best seller albums. And there is not only CD, VCD version, but also a karaoke version too for those who can read Chinese. And this is a chance for every of you guys, if you want to sing Vicki's songs, you can write to me, and I'll translate the lyrics and then transcribe them into Vietnamese for you, so that we all can sing with her, right? |
