My School Life in Nanyang Polytechnics from 1998-2001

It is the entrance of the Nanyang Polytechnics...I spent my 3 years in the school and really enjoy the teaching and friends here...

The building was very new when I first stepped into the school...I love the structure of the building. It is very simple but very nice.

My course of study was Diploma in Electronics, Computer and Communication Engineering.


My Poly's Life

I entered Nanyang Polytechnics in 1998 after my GCE ' O' Level. When I first come to Nanyang, the building was still a new one because they just build a new campus. So I was lucky to try all the new facilities here.

The life here was very simple and easy to pass...The rules here are not very strict compare to my secondary life.

In the first day of my first year in school, I was very blur like 'sotong' coz the building is very big and I was lost myself in my own campus. I remembered that I was late for lecture for the first day and I could not find the lecture theatre also. So I met a lecturer in the lift and I asked him where is the lecture theatre. At that time he just told me the direction and after the lift's door open, I ran quickly to the direction given.

I reached the lecture theatre and realised that the lesson had not started and even the lecturer himself late for class...

So I just sit down and relaxed. The next moment, I saw a guy step into the lecture theatre and I was schocked coz that guy was actually the one that I met in the lift. He then came towards me and said ' well done young man...u must always do that when u r late'. Everybody looked at me at that time and I was very ambarrassed.

But after that I still come late for lectures especially when the lectures start at 8 o'clock in the morning.

 
In the second year I was quite active in the school. I took french Language as my third Language and also joined L'Hexagone French Club in my school...

I was then selected as the treasurer of the club in Sep 1998. During those times I was very active with the school activities. I enjoyed all the activities that the club organised and we as a team would work together to try to promote our club to the societies.

We attended classes at Alliace Française and we also made many friends from Lycée Française de Singapour.

We held performances in various schools and also I remembered once I was told to do a sketch for Lire en fête (reading festival). I was chosen to become Le petit prince ( the small prince) in French. The story was taken from a famous book in France for children.

During the third year, we did our two months industrial project and I enjoyed it very much. I was attached to Trellis Neu Tech in Orchard Road near the MPH building. I was given a task to design their Intranet. After that we would have to come back to school to do the 16 weeks project. That was the major project and I was given a task to build thier foreign language web site.
