Gorean Currency

There is no paper currency on Gor. All monetary exchanges are made with copper, silver and gold coins. The exact equivalence tends to vary from city to city due to many cities on Gor minting their own currency, but the gold tarn disk of Ar is the standard for much of Gor. Men carry the coins in pouches, except for Assassins who carry thier money in belts worn around the waist. Free women generally have hidden pockets within their clothing. Slaves are not allowed to carry currency. If their owners send them to market, coins are carried in their mouths.

Value of Currency

Tarsk bit - a copper coin worth from 1/10 to 1/4 of a copper tarsk, depending on the
city which mints the coin

Copper tarsk - copper coin that is the whole coin of least value, equalling 10 tarsk bits.

Silver tarsk - a coin worth 100 copper tarsks or 40 copper tarn disks.

Tarn Disks - copper tarn disk, smallest unit of currency. Silver tarn worth approx. 10 silver tarsks.

Gold tarn - of the highest value on Gor; also made in double- weight. Worth about 100 silver tarn disks.
