Patterns of History- 1876 Bustle gown- this was my first attempt at a period correct pattern. I love bustle gowns and making this one was a true pleasure. the pattern is very precise and complete all the pieces match perfectly and the historical notes are very good. The ruffles in the underskirt took a while my mom did all the ruffle gathering by hand but the result was really nice.
the dress: I found this great 100% blue plaid fabric and bought 10 yds of it and it was just the right amount to get the dress. the bodice and overskirt are adorn with rushing made of the same fabric you can make this dress as fancy or as plain as you want. Mine is a simple walking dress with a hat to match. The overskirt has tapes in the inside to hold the bustle puff. I would rate this pattern *Intermediate * the ruffles take a lot of time and patience.
Sense and Sensibility- Tea Gown- I found this pattern a dream to work with, the instructions are clear and Mrs. Chancey even has more details ones on line. I will definitely recommend this pattern to anyone. I would rate this pattern. *Easy* , the pattern itself is 4 pieces and you can add as many layers as you want or make it as simple as you wish.
1914 Afternoon dress- This is one of my favorites so far , again very easy to follow directions and the dress turned out lovely. I used white eyelet and I was very pleased with the result. I also made and under dress to go with it. I follow Mrs. Chancey's instructions very carefully and even added 3 tucks at the hem of the dress. I would rate this pattern *Easy* Highly recommended for a beginner, maybe with a little help.
