First--Who am I looking for?
Designers who want  distinctive look for their portfolios. I want to increase the number of fashion images in my portfolio. Most of my images have been portraiture, and about the person being photographed. Not having access to fashion myself, the outfit has seldom been the subject of my images. I want to change this.
Makeup artists/hair stylists also looking for images. The nature of my lighting and hotography means that most of my portraits have had the natural look. I would like to achieve a more dramatic look in my portraits and fashion images if possible. Maybe not super-wild punk, but I won't rule it out... spiked hair and piercings shot with a soft-focus lens might be interesting...
Models who are looking for a classic image or two for their portfolios, though how many depends on how much interest I have from the above catogories.
Second--I want to collaborate with creative people. When I say I'm looking for a classic look, I'm referring more to the style of photography than to the subject matter. I think I can create classic images from anything, for example: one of my models was also in school to design sportswear. I was looking foward to putting a classic spin on her sportswear (if you see this site Andrea, contact me). So don't fret if you don't design evening wear or classically inspired stuff: we can talk.
Third--What do I bring to this collaboration?  I prefer to work with older, large-format equipment; that means I don't fly through 20 rolls of film in an hour. It is a slow process, which is why most of my images have a very formal look to them. My portrait lens does not synch up with flash equipment, so I seldom use any; I use hot lamps. Although I live in a studio apartment, I do not have access to a studio space of my own. My own limited space is the reason the majority of my work is portraiture. I shoot on film, but I scan my negs and do any retouching in the computer. I have my images output on real photographic paper. I will come up with some arrangement with folks on an individual basis, but will happily provide either prints, or digital files.
So there you have it. I'm new to this, I seldom work with large numbers of people. Hopefully, I will be able to arrange to work with several people in a single session... makeup and hair, fashion, and model. Because of my busy schedule, I usually communicate via email. Here's what I ask: if you have images or examples of your work, wmail them to me. They don't have to be very good, just something to give me an idea. I will get in contact with you. I want to collaborate with you, to get somehting we can both use. To take the next step, click HERE to email me.
