Experience

Senior Software Engineer - January 1, 2007–Present Coin Acceptors Inc., Saint Louis, MO

  • Key developer of the Guardian 6000 coin changer firmware and software, which employs the embedded uC/OS-II RTOS operating on a distributed Freescale HC9S12 microcontroller system utilizing a CAN bus - Online: Guardian 6000
  • Applied for a patent in coin validation as sole inventor - provisional application # 60/862,351, on 10/28/06.

Software Engineer - October 9, 2004–January 1, 2007 Coin Acceptors Inc., Saint Louis, MO

  • Worked as key designer and developer of the Guardian 6000 coin changer firmware. Main responsibilities included PID motor control firmware design, optical and electromagnetic sensor firmware driver development, and implementation of sonic pulse coin level sensing.

Electrical Engineer - March 9, 2004–October 9, 2004 Coin Acceptors Inc., Saint Louis, MO

  • Worked on various research projects to develop and improve coin validation using pattern recognition methods applied to features extracted using electromagnetic sensors, employing various digital signal processing tools and methods.
  • Researched and designed various sonic coin level sense hardware and software systems as part of a next-generation coin changer.

Electrical Engineer - June 25, 1999–Sept. 28, 2003 Videojet Technologies Inc., Belleville, IL

  • Worked with an engineering team on the design, development and programming of carton-coding products with software based in Windows 95/98 and embedded Windows CE platforms.
  • Developed numerous unique software programs to integrate embedded processor based case-coding systems to meet customer requirements. Examples include custom counts, barcodes, communication protocols, and date codes for customers such as Tropicana, M&M Mars, Chiquita, and numerous other companies in the food and beverage industry.
