Metal Gear Solid 3: Cold War Conspiracies

(C) 1987 2004 Konami Computer Entertainment Japan.

The Story: The Year is 1964. It's been a year since the assasination of JFK. LBJ is the US President, and the Cold War is 4 years into one of the most brutal decades in World History. A soviet scientist by the name of Sokolov, has requested asylum in the US, having become afraid of his own creations. CIA Agent Jack aka Snake, must infiltrate the jungles of Tselinoyarsk, find Sokolov, and deliver him to the "West." However, something is not right. Hidden in the shadows, members of GRU, led by Colonel Volgin, known to the West as Thunderbolt, are working together with the Brehznev Faction in an effort to take Nikita Khruschev, then Soviet Premiere, out of power. Their plan involves the capture of Sokolov. Playing a vital role is a US soldier, known as "The Boss." Her role, however, is yet to be determined. Now, Snake must race against the clock, and save Sokolov before it's too late, and a new weapon, known as the Shagohod, is unveiled to the world.

Snake Eater News:
May 18, 2005: Kojima has announced the release of a "Substance" version of MGS3: Snake Eater. Entitled Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, the re-release will feature a multiplayer online mode, different feature which are currently exclusive to the European version, and the original two Metal Gear games from the late 80s: Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, previously unreleased in the US. No date has been set.

December 4th: I did it. Snake Eater has been completed, but its ending is super sad. I've added a new section called "The Truth About Ocelot!" It contains major spoilers. Do not read unless you've passed the game or want to know what happens.

November 30th: Yesterday, I got Snake Eater signed by its creators, Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa. Talk about a once in a life time thing, huh? Now, all that's left is the mission. I should complete it within a few days, now that I've finished with my college apps for now.

November 17th: Snake Eater is released today. From what I hear, the game is at least twice as long as the previous games, with a Boss Fight that takes about an hour to finish. This game should kick serious ass.

October 1st: Konami has announced that there will be massive collaboration in the development of Snake Eater. The proof of this collaboration is in the recent trailer, where it shows Snake facing off against the Ape Escape monkeys. Initially, I dismissed this as a joke. However, I found that Sony and Konami are working to bring this feature to fruition. In related news, the creator of Ape Escape announced that Snake will guest star in Ape Escape 3. Talk about interesting.

September 27th: In a recent Snake Eater trailer, one message popped up at the end. It said "Final Episode of the Metal Gear Solid Trilogy! Winter 2004." Could this be it? Could this be the Snake's final mission? Or is it just a prelude to something so big, "Metal Gear Solid" cannot describe it? Hideo Kojima and his team are always full of surprises, but what's coming next? I'll figure it out, sooner or later. But for now, you'll just have to wait and see what happens.

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!!!! IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW, DON'T SCROLL DOWN!!!!!

The Truth About Ocelot!
Contrary to many beliefs, Ocelot never was a part of FOX-HOUND nor ever cooperated with Solidus. Ocelot is, and always has been, a member of "The Patriots." His first mission was to retrieve "The Philosophers' (now The Patriots) Legacy." He therefore "defected" to the Soviet Union, and GRU believed him to be a Soviet. He then infiltrated GRU and rose to the rank of "Major." After Snake's mission in Tselinoyarsk was completed, he recieved further instruction to remain undercover, since not all of the Legacy was recovered. This money would then go to revive "The Philosophers" as "The Patriots" and would fuel the fires for the Outer Heaven Revolt of 1995, the Zanzibar Uprising of 1999, the Shadow Moses Incident of 2005, the Tanker incident of 2007, and Sons of Liberty Uprising of 2009. Ocelot would play vital roles in a few of these incidents, namely the last three, and would turn the tide to his organization's favor in 2005 and 2007.
