We got engaged on 9th July 2001, in style. The traditional engagement ceremony was celebrated at Chennai with friends and relatives from both families. According to Hindu tradition, on the engagement day, the parents of the bride and the groom take a vow to get their children married on an auspicious day. Since both of us were in the US, the ceremony at Chennai took place in our absence.

Engagement day is a rather special day and so we decided to be together. We flew to Kansas City to be with Prabha and Prakash (Vidhya’s sister and brother-in-law). They had arranged for a grand party and we really didn’t miss being home for the grand occasion.
