The Vidiot's weekly blog: What pissed me off this week? 8/29/2005 (updated every Monday at some point during the day) ...'cause I'm angry and my friends are sick of listening to me... Track your congresscritters here!
Free stuff can be found here Mirror (in case geocities is wacky or, in case of trouble in New York, check it for messages): http://129.79.148.33/vidiotcontact/ Another short one this week. Went to Atlantic City. What a gross and disgusting place. Had to be done at least once though. Of all of the things that pissed me off this week, and the police raid of the rave in Utah was the most huge, followed by Pat Robertson's mouth diarrhea (and Chavez knows who's to blame if anything bad happens and he may even indict Robertson. Sah-lappp!), all has been overshadowed by what's going on in New Orleans. To someone from New Orleans, it's as bad as 9/11. To someone who's from New Orleans who's not there right now, they want to be there. I remember when 9/11 happened and I spoke with a NYC friend of mine who was overseas at the time, he said that of all the things he felt about that day, what he remembers most is how much he wanted to be back here in the city. Well, anyone who calls New Orleans home is feeling a bit like we New Yorkers felt on 9/11. Only, they don't have anyone to blame. That has to be worse. Fortunately, as of this posting, New Orleans didn't get hit as hard as the media blowhards hyped, but it's still going to be bad. And here's a thought from Mike Rivero over at whatreallyhappened.com:
Maybe King George, who already short-shrifted New Orleans as far as funding their hurricane protection, should take this opportunity to rethink his lack of respect for nature. Picture of the Week: Mars from on high Dumb stuff of the Week: Bad Microwave Oven Ideas Do-it-yourself of the Week: Make your own bullshit protectors Spin of the Week: GW Bush: not really on vacation. Finally! of the Week: Guys are giving up waxing. Clock of the Week: U.S. National Debt What will be the Forwarded Email of the Week: Statements You Might Wish You'd Thought Of WTF! of the Week So, they fire the guys who had good information about Atta, information never passed on to Clinton and Clarke, by the way
because they might've pointed a finger or two at George's pet, Condi.
In-credible. Durrs of the Week We all knew this was coming. Tony Blair will most likely take a job with the Carlyle Group.
Payback for being the superior poodle I suppose. And here's another no-brainer.
Yeah. It's called getting a DWB - driving while black. FOX news sucks. Only on FOX could this be treated as serious news.
Though, I have to say, FOX's news coverage of the New Orleans thing wasn't too bad. Maybe, as long as a political agenda is not needed, they're fine as a new source. Except for Geraldo. My word he's annoying. Oh, and they kept referring to the bible and stuff while they were reporting. OK, on second thought, they still suck. Who knew? Uh, what exactly is NASA salvaging in the Antarctic?
Rumor has it the thing had nuclear power, which violate assloads of international agreements regarding nuclear material in the Antarctic region. Suicided watch I've mentioned Wayne Madsen before. He's a breathless investigative reporter. I mean, he's good, and some of his information is good, but he just does it in such an emotional way, it's hard to swallow everything he dishes out. Anyway, he's dug up some financial connections between Osama and Poppy Bush.
No wonder he feels like his life is threatened.
Don't mess with Poppy. Chipping at the wall. There was a line in this LA Times story that really got my goat. Overall, the article is about Christian being groomed for political positions. Here's the offending line.
If you can't see what's wrong with that, I've taught you nothing. Beware of Google Yet another reason to not use Google.
News of the Weird Well, soylent green IS people, after all.
But at least it's more useful than the eternal reef idea.
What the hell is this thing?
What do we do about all of this crap? I have no idea. Part of me wants to start teach-ins at my local pub. Just go to the bar, rant and rave and inform the idiots who still think Brian Williams is telling them the truth. I sincerely believe that if we protected the voting rights of the underprivileged that any Democrat could SWEEP any election. I don't think Democrats are the answer. But they are at least a start. At the very least, point your CNN-loving friends to my links page. Just getting started in reading alternate news sites gets people thinking. I have one friend who was very happy-go-lucky, thinking ol' Greta was telling the whole truth until I opened up his eyes a bit. Now, he's all depressed. He'll get over it. You gotta' get depressed before you get angry and you gotta' get angry before you can accomplish anything. We're all in mourning. We have to move through the steps. But we gotta' hurry it up. Read. Inform. Spread the word. Even if it means your friends avoid you for awhile. If they really love you, they'll start to listen.
"POSSE COMITATUS ACT" (18 USC 1385): A Reconstruction Era criminal law proscribing use of Army (later, Air Force) to "execute the laws" except where expressly authorized by Constitution or Congress. Limit on use of military for civilian law enforcement also applies to Navy by regulation. Dec '81 additional laws were enacted (codified 10 USC 371-78) clarifying permissible military assistance to civilian law enforcement agencies--including the Coast Guard--especially in combating drug smuggling into the United States. Posse Comitatus clarifications emphasize supportive and technical assistance (e.g., use of facilities, vessels, aircraft, intelligence, tech aid, surveillance, etc.) while generally prohibiting direct participation of DoD personnel in law enforcement (e.g., search, seizure, and arrests). For example, Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachments (LEDETS) serve aboard Navy vessels and perform the actual boardings of interdicted suspect drug smuggling vessels and, if needed, arrest their crews). Positive results have been realized especially from Navy ship/aircraft involvement.
