KETERBACAAN WACANA BUKU-BUKU PELAJARAN BAHASA INDONESIA Daud Pamungkas Abstrak: A basic problem in teaching reading, readability has not properly been considered. This problem happens in most Indonesian textbooks or discourse which are used in learning and teaching process. We are, therefore, doubtful whether the reading material have good valence to students’ schematic. This research may be useful for giving information on the readability of the Indonesian textbooks. Among the nineteen textbooks, there are ten (53 %) of them having improper readability level. Sometimes those books are too hard or too easy to be used or read by students of a certain level. There are only nine of them (47 %) having proper readability level. In other words, the reading materials in those textbooks are appropriate to which they are used. In fact, we do not hope that such condition comes of, considering the importance of a good textbooks.
