Abstract: There are some definitions of bilingualism. Bloomfield defines bili-ngualism as ‘native-like control of two languages’. This definition refers to the mastery of two languages with the same accuracy and fluency. One of the broader concepts of bilingualism is suggested by William F. Mackey, as ‘the alternate use of two or more languages by the same individual. Bilingualism may result in language phenomena such as: interference, integration, code-switching and code-mixing. These all language phenomena can be studied through sociolinguistics.
