TEATER TRADISIONAL MAMANDA Jarkasi Abstract: Mamanda is one of the traditional Banjarese theatres in South Kalimantan. This theatre originated from a theatre which imitated the Malay nobility. It was first staged by Encik Ibrahim bin Wangsa and his crew from Malaka when they came as traders to Bandarmasih (Banjarmasin) in the eighteenth century. Later, this theatre was adapted to the culture of the village of Periuk in the district of Tapin in South Kalimantan. This theatre is always "palace-centered" includes a type of Banjarese dance called ladon, a court of robles that discusses problems happened in the Kingdom, and a plot of narative tension always has a happy ending (babujukan).
