MAHASISWA TERHADAP LITERATUR STRUKTUR ALJABAR

MELALUI PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF MODEL JIGSAW

Abstract: The subject of Algebra Structure has special characteristics, namely: it is abstract, symbolic, and axiomatic. From year to year, there are a limited number of students having excellent achievement. One of the causes is that they have low aptitude to read some references. This research was conducted in the parallel classes of academic year 2002/2003. The treatment was carried out in three circles. The students were divided into 5 groups to create Cooperative Learning with jigsaw model. In the discussion, every student was involved in the expert group for 2x50 minutes. Their lecturer prepared the task material. Besides, the lecturer recorded the increase of reference books read and studied by the students in every circle. In the last circle, he asked the students’ response. The research result shows that there is an increase of learning achievement. In addition, the students’ aptitude to read and study the reference books before lecturing has increased; its indicator is the increase in the number of reference books read and studied by them.
