MEMPERTIMBANGKAN ULANG PENULISAN SEJARAH INDONESIA

Abstract: This paper is an attempt to locate the discussion on Indonesian historiography within a wider context. This text is triggered by the publication of the writings of two Indonesian important historians from the younger generation. Although it is agreed that a more critical attitude has to be adopted in the (re)writing of Indonesia histories, however, it is argued that the above mentioned writings are too inward looking. They do not specifically consider the possible connections and parallels between Indonesia historical writings with the writings of the histories of Indonesian neighbors, as well as of other post-colonial societies. It is high time for Indonesian historians to look and to explore at those possibilities.
