Abstract: The evaluation of Indonesian language has been considered ineffective. The language teachers have come to believe that learning is a holistic process of the construction of meaning. Students are actively engaged in authentic listening, speaking, reading and writing experiences across the curriculum in the context of the classroom. The model of learning is reflected in authentic assessment, which is continuously embedded in classroom contexts and include information from teacher observation, anecdotal record, checklist, conference, and student work. Authentic assessment situates a student’s development overtime in the classroom and relative to the whole-language learning process.
