PEMBELAJARAN BIOTEKNOLOGI BAGI SISWA  DAN CALON GURU BIOLOGI

Abstract:  Biotechnology plays an important rule for human life; so, it necessary to be taught in Junior and Senior High Schools,  and even in the universities especially those which produce biology teachers. Biotechnology is necessary to be taught in the schools, so the subject matter of biotechnology is included in the Competency-Based Curriculum. There are two kinds of biotechnology: traditional and modern biotechnology . The  traditional biotechnology includes the processing  of making a food and a drink traditionally using  micro-organism. This biotechnology is taught in  Junior and Senior High Schools. But, modern biotechnology is taught in universities. Modern biotechnology that uses micro-organism and or genetic engineering to produce products such as insulin, somatostatin, somatotropin, an interferon are very important for people healthy. In addition,  there are some important biotechnological products to increase the agricultural products
