Pendidikan Matematika FKIP Universitas Lambung Mangkurat Abstracts: In order to improve the students’ learning achievement in the Mathematics Departement of FKIP Unlam, an instructional model called Numbered Heads Together (NHT) has been implemented in the teaching of Financial Mathematics. This is a classroom action research using a descriptive method and the subject of which are all students of the Mathematics Departement FKIP Unlam who attended Financial Mathematics in the even semester, academic year of 2005/2006. The data are the students’ learning achievement scores obtained from the result of their partisipation in the NHT instructional model of teaching and learning activities done in 3 successive cycles . The scores are given to their assigments, post test and final test, which are then analyzed using percentage technique. The reseacrh result shows that the students assigment score as well as the post test scores have improved well from the first until the third cycles. Combining the scores of the assigment, post test and final test, more than 98% of the students can pass the subject. There have been obstacles faced by the lecturers as well as the studenst during the instructional process and the students even participated anthusiastically in the lecture. It is suggested that the other subjects use this models in their instructional activities. Keys word : Financial Mathematics, Cooperative Learning, NHT Models
