Abstract: The
research for increasing the understanding level of unorganic chemistry subject 2
through realistic chemistry approach in Program Study Education Of Chemistry of
FKIP Unlam has been done. This research is done through a case study. It is
conducted in two cycles in which every cycle covers planning, execution of
action, observation, and reflection. Data are collected with test 1 and test 2,
and analyzed by using the percentage technique. The indicator of successfulness
is that when at least 80% of the students obtain the mastery level = 60 %. This
research is executed for 1 (one) semester at uneven semester, academic year of
2005/2006. The subject of research are the students attending the Unorganic
Chemistry subject 2; they are 38 students. The research result indicates that
previously the students achieving the scores
≥ 60 are 44,74% and after this research the amount of students
reach 84,21%; those who achieve the scores < 60 decrease from 55,26% to 15,79%.
Their passing levels are in different variations; most students ( 65,79%)
achieve the grades of C+ and C, the some of them ( 23,68%) achieve the grades of
B and A; and the rest ( 7,89%) do not pass with the grade of E. Keyword : realistic chemistry, action research, and learning achievement
