EKONOMI KOTA MALANG PADA AWAL KEMERDEKAAN SAMPAI TAHUN 1950-AN Purnawan Basundoro
Departemen Ilmu Sejarah, Fakultas Sastra, Universitas Airlangga Abstract: One of the main problems faced by Indonesia in the earlyperiod of its independence was remarkable economic chaos caused by economic transition from colonial to national eras. During the period of transfer of economic management, Indonesia did not have adequate expertise in the field of economic control. Various economic policies which were formulated by the central government in Jakarta could not be implemented easily in the local areas. This article discribes various economic conditions in the early period of independence in Malang city. Based on several historical sources, it is known that in the early period of independence the condition of the economy in Malang city was also very severe,and poverty was apparent in the community due to the high inflation. This chaotic condition also influenced the urban social condition. Therefore, the economic policies formulated by the government cannot be implemented well at the local goverment level in Malang city.
