Pendidikan Sejarah, FKIP Universitas Lambung Mangkurat Abstract: Conflict of ordinary people and military, according to some opinions, is caused by the fact that the military does not function as it should do. The function of military is to keep and protect the state. The military should focusses on the affairs to protect the state from threat, challenge, and obstacle presented by the other states; it should not interfere in the socio-political affairs. But, in fact, we know that the military’s role in the socio-political affairs can be clearly seen in the life of having a nation and of having a state. Therefore, it is not easy to say that the military must be separated from the socio-political affairs as a whole. Key words: Military, Indonesia, socio-political affairs
