Dave lands his first Pike for 2001.

Nisse wins the 2001 series with a 7 kilo pike.

A bit of a size comparison here. We found this baby in the stomach of the monster!

The calming sight at 6am. Gotta love the mist!

Nisse bails out our little fishing boat.

In order to combat the mosquitos in the far north of Sweden, one must wear suitable protection.

Full headgear is essential unless you are a hard bastard like David.

The hard bastard himself. David has spent so much time in the North that he actually scares mosquitos away.

Freshwater fishing at 1:30am with full sunlight. Hard to beat.

A lovely catch of trout. These made for the BEST breakfast you could possibly imagine

David at 7am after refusing to give up and go to sleep. This was the second wind of an all-night dare that forced us to fish until 11am. David is full of Gammel Dansk at this stage, a liquor so potent that it known to cause blindness for weeks at a time.

The blindness hits the Australian prematurely.

At about 8am David decided he was ready to try crossing the fast flowing stream after the Aussie's failed attempt. Drunken dares have a strange effect on fishermen.

The reindeer are thick as thieves up there. Here we are stampeded.

Lesson number 1. Don't let Nisse drink when out on a crowded small boat casting sharp hooks. This was my fate.

Lesson number 2. See lesson number 1. This was David's fate.

The removal operation took close to an hour and required a lot of strong whiskey, pliers and a razor blade.

After Nils has injured all of his opponents, success in the year 2000 competition was assured.

David at 6am.

Nisse at 6am on the rare occasions that he gets out of bed.

Early success for Nisse.

A poor Pik ein the death throes.

A good evenings catch headed for Lagge's stomach.

A very bad morning Sunday yielded only this ambitious mört.

Flyfishing at 6am south of Stockholm.

This is the one that didn't get away. Remember, the only good Gädda is a Dead Gädda. One fine day around Stockholm yielded this crocodile. Goes to show that the wrong time of year, wrong time of day and wrong type of water can still pay off if you are lucky enough to snag one in the side of the head while they are sleeping.

Hemingway days : The hunters with two 10 kilo dead pike heads.

Dunno why David is smiling, cause he didn't get many fish that weekend.

Action!

Danger!.

Terrifying.

Nisse breaks the surface tension.

Pike messiah walks on water.
