David Templeton Biography

David Templeton has attracted considerable attention recently for his performances as Miller in Luisa Miller and Germont in La Traviata for Sarasota Opera, Marcello in La Bohème for Toledo Opera, and Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro for Edmonton Opera and Connecticut Grand Opera.  Later this season, he brings his Valentin to Winnipeg for Manitoba Opera's prodution of Faust. In  past seasons, he has portrayed Escamillo in Carmen for Opera Columbus, Mercutio in Roméo et Juliette for Edmonton Opera, the title role in Don Giovanni for Illinois Opera Theatre, and Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte for DiCapo Opera in New York, Silvio in I Pagliacci, and Falke in Die Fledermaus, among others.

An accomplished recitalist, Mr. Templeton has performed extensively throughout the United States in a diverse offering of recitals and oratorio appearances with The Columbus Chamber Orchestra, Dallas Chamber Orchestra, South Texas Symphony, Welsh Hills Symphony, Long Island Philharmonic, and the Long Island Choral Society in répertoire ranging from Mozart's Requiem and Bach's St. Matthew Passion to Vaughan-Williams' Five Mystical Songs and Schubert's Schwanengesang

 A native of Texas, Mr. Templeton received his Bachelor of Music degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Music degree from the Ohio State University. Recently he was selected as a finalist for the Richard Tucker Award by the Richard Tucker Foundation, awarded Honorable Mention in the Opera Columbus Vocal Competition, and was named a finalist in the MacAllister Awards Competition.

 Some upcoming engagements for David are: the title role in Don Giovanni for Nevada Opera, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly for Opera/Columbus and Toledo Opera, as well as Germont in La Traviata for Opera/Columbus.
