Reperatoire and Sound Clips

While it is true that the viola is sadly lacking in reperatoire volume, the music that has been written for the instrument is generally of very good quality. A number of of "revolutionary" works have feature the viola - most notably Harold en Italie by Hector Berlioz. Included below are examples viola concertos, sonatas, etc. plus a review of the disc they came on.

  1. Concerto for Viola in G by Georg Philip Telemann
  2. "Harold in Italy" by Hector Berlioz
  3. The "Handel" Concerto for viola by Casadesus
  4. The Märchenbuilder by Robert Schumman
  5. Concerto for Viola and Orchestra by Sir William Walton
